山陰の旅２ (Trip to Sanin Region 2)

　旅の2日目、朝食の前に1時間ほど三朝温泉の町を歩いた。泊まったホテルのすぐ近くにキュリー夫人の像があった（1枚目の写真）。三朝温泉の湯はラジウムと、これがアルファ崩壊して出来るラドンが含まれている放射能泉であることによる。微量放射線によるホルミシス効果のため、健康によいとされているが、この効果は、なお論争のあるところである。2枚目と3枚目の写真は三朝神社と南苑寺。

Before the breakfast of the second day of the trip, we had a walk in the town of Misasa Spa. The hot water of Misasa spa includes radium as well as its alpha-decay product, radon; and is radioactive. Thus, there stands the statue of Marie Curie (the first photo) near the hotel at which we stayed. They say that the spa is beneficial for health because of radiation hormesis effect, which is still controversial. The second photo shows Misasa Shrine; and the third, Nan-en Temple.
