巳年の新年 (New Year of Snake)

　皆さん、新年おめでとうございます。

　巳年に因むよい写真がないかと思って、『ウィキペディア』英語版の "Snake" のページを見ていたところ、上掲の写真が見つかった。古生物の形をよくとどめたきれいな化石であるばかりでなく、曲がりくねった身体の中央部分が漢字の「巳」に似ているところも面白い。

To find a good picture to celebrate the year of snake (according to Chinese zodiac), I looked at the page of "Snake" in the English version of Wikipedia and found the photo above. The fossil not only has beautifully kept the shape of the ancient creature but is also attractive in that its coiled central portion is similar to the Chinese character "巳" to represent the snake.
