ニュージーランドでのスケッチ ２ (Sketches in New Zealand 2)

　ハーミテージ・ホテルから見たアオラキ（マウント・クック、標高3,754m）。2004年1月6日午後描く。

ニュージーランドでのスケッチ １ (Sketches in New Zealand 1)

　クラウンプラザ・ホテルから見たクライストチャーチのダウンタウン。2004年1月5日午後描く。

セイロンベンケイの花の生長 (Growing Up of Air Plant Flowers)

　先にも、1月7日付けでセイロンベンケイの花の写真を掲載した。インターネットの写真では、花の根元（上部）が赤く、先から朱色の花弁らしいものが出ているのも見た。他方、わが家の花は、先の写真を撮影したときすでに、つぼみが出来初めてから何日も経っていたのに、黄緑色だけの姿だった。したがって、わが家の植物はそういう地味な種類のものかと思っていた。

　ところが、嬉しいことに、最近になって、最も早く大きくなって来ていたつぼみの先端から朱色のものが出て来た（1枚目の写真の中央）。また、日光によく当たっていた側の各つぼみの上部も赤みを帯びて来た（2枚目の写真；このときは、反対側に日が当たるように植木鉢を回転してある）。この植物の花が生長するためには、ずいぶん多くの日数が必要なようだ。［写真はどちらも2011年2月8日、わが家で撮影。］

　［掲載後の注記］インターネットで調べたところ、筒状の部分はガクで、先から出る朱色のものが花弁と分かった。

I posted a picture of air plant flowers once on January 7. On the Internet, I saw that the base (at the top side) of some flowers had red color and that there were vermilion things, perhaps petals, at the tip. On the other hand, the flowers in our house had only yellow-green color, although the previous photo was taken several days or more after the start of budding. Thus, I thought that our plant was of such a modest kind.

However, to our joy, vermilion things recently came out from the tip of the bud that had grown earliest (at the middle of the first photo). Further, the upper portion of the side of each bud that had significantly gotten sunlight became tinged red (the second photo; now the flower pot has been rotated for the other side to be exposed to sunshine). It seems that the flower of this plant requires a lot of days to grow up. [Both the pictures were taken on February 8, 2011, at our home.]

[Note after posting] By Internet search, I have learned that the cylinder-like portion is a calyx and the vermilion things at the tip are petals.

ウメの花が咲き始める (Ume blossoms began to bloom)

オークランド １０ (Auckland 10)

　旅の13日目（最終日）の7時15分、オークランド国際空港へ到着。ニュージーランド航空の NZ97 便で帰途につく。関西空港着16時5分。写真は、昨日掲載の者と同じく、バスの前方の窓から見たオークランドの街。郊外にさしかかる所のようである。［ニュージーランド旅行の写真 166（最後）; 2004年1月16日］

なお、添乗員さんが作成した旅行記によれば、12日目の夕食後、一同が私のスケッチで旅を振り返ったとある。その少数枚のスケッチは、以前 IDEA & ISAAC のウエブサイトに掲載していたが、いまは載せていないので、このあと連載する予定である。

At 7:15 am of the thirteenth day (the last day) of the trip, we arrived at Auckland International Airport and took Air New Zealand flight NZ97 to go back to Japan, arriving at Kansai Airport at 4:05 pm. The photo above, similarly to the one posted yesterday, shows the city of Oakland, perhaps close to the outskirts, viewed from the front window of the bus. According to the tour conductor's travelogue, we looked back on the travel seeing my sketches after the dinner of the twelfth day. Those sketches, once posted at the Web site of IDEA & ISAAC but deleted afterward, will be made the next short series at this blog site.
