A cactus is a member of the family Cactaceae. The species in the photo (taken in our yard on May 15, 2010) is called hebi-saboten in Japanese. It means "snake cactus."

ルリミゾカクシ (Edging Lobelia)

　ルリミゾカクシ（瑠璃溝隠）、キキョウ科の多年草。別名ルリチョウソウ（瑠璃蝶草）、ルリチョウチョウ（瑠璃蝶々）、ロベリア（属の学名から）。写真は2010年5月13日、わが家の庭で。

　アルストロメリアは、ユリズイセン科（アルストロメリア科）の属の一つ。写真は2010年5月13日、わが家の庭で。

大仙公園の日本庭園 (The Japanese Garden of Daisen Park)

　昨日は、一昨日に続いて好天気。家にじっとしているのが惜しく、午前中、二駅区間を電車に乗り、大仙公園へ行く。いまは特に何の花が咲いているのでもなく、緑の中を歩き回る。日本庭園に後期高齢者保険証を提示して入り、人の少ない中でゆっくりと何枚かの風景写真を撮る（1枚目の写真はその中の一つ）。ここでは、カキツバタ（2枚目の写真）が間もなく見頃になりそうだ。

Yesterday it was very fine, consecutively from the day before yesterday (a rare phenomenon in these days). Went to Daisen Park in the morning by train (two blocks from here). This is not the season of any flower but green leaves were enjoyable. In the Japanese garden of the park, there were only a small number of visitors and I took some pictures in the stillness (the first photo is one of those). Rabbit-ear irises will soon come to full bloom there (the second photo).
