The photo of scarlet rosemallow to which I manually applied the light-adjustment options of the Photo program on iMac
Today is the day of Japan's defeat. It is commonly called "end-of-the-war day" in Japan. It seems that many people were pleased that the painful war days were over on this day 76 years ago, but I, who was in the 4th grade of elementary school, was worried. I thought that Japan's land might be dominated by victorious nations and that all the Japanese people might be treated like slaves. It was the imagination of a child who knew only the consequences of old wars. However, situations close to that imagination actually exist. For example, under the agreement abbreviated as the Japan-US Status of Forces Agreement, people around US military bases in Okinawa and other places continue to suffer disadvantages. On this day, we must also think about the preciousness of Japan's "Peace Constitution."
