最後の一葉 (The Last Leaf)


 桜の木に最後の一葉があった。オー・ ヘンリーの短編小説「最後の一葉」では、ツタの葉であるが。写真は堺市・笠池公園で、2010年12月6日撮影。

Found the last leaf on a cherry tree at Kasaike Park, Sakai, on December 6, 2010. In O. Henry's novella "The Last Leaf," it was the leaf of Boston Ivy.

  1. じっと見ているとセンチメンタルな気持ちになります。オーヘンリーの「最後の一葉」中学校の英語の時間に習った記憶があります。教科書に載っていたそのストーリーが気に入り、何度も朗読したのも懐かしい思い出です。

  2.  「センチメンタルな気持ち」、そうですね。一人ひとりの人間も、いずれは散って行くのですから…。
     ところで、昨日の朝日紙夕刊に、ヤマコウバシという木の葉を、広島市植物園で売り始めたのが大人気との記事が載っていました。冬に枯れても「落ちない」ことから、受験シーズンの合格祈願のお守りとして縁起がよいという理由です。
