6 (Flowers of Spring 6)

Peach flowers called Gempei-momo in Japanese. "Momo" means "peach"; and "Gempei," two families, Minamoto (Genji) and Taira (Heike), that fought a war from 1180 to 1185 in pursuit of the power to rule Japan behind the Emperor. Red flags were the symbol of Genji; white ones, that of Heike. Thus, the species of peach that blossoms both in red and white has the above name. The photo was taken at Nakanoike Garden near our house, on March 22, 2010.
