郷里で ２ (In My Hometown -2-)

　金沢墓参に行った翌16日、午前には金沢21世紀美術館を訪れ、近江町いちば館2階の店で海鮮どんぶりの昼食をした。午後2時半から金沢蓄音機館で行なわれる催しを聞く予約をしてあったが、それまでの時間を持て余し、「城下町金沢周遊バス」で一周半ほどして過ごした。催しは「大野由加のティータイム・クラシック〜SP時代の巨匠：ピアニスト編 (1)」と題するものである。SPレコードの演奏に使われたのは、1920年代のアメリカ製大型蓄音機で、当時、２階建ての家を建てる以上の価格がした代物だそうだ。

　プログラムの最初にあった「ピアニスト聴き比べ」では、寺西昭子 (1927–)、ヴァルター・ギーゼキング (1895–1956)、アルトゥル・シュナーベルの三者によるベートーベンの「エリーゼのために」のレコードが演奏された。妻も私もギーゼキングの演奏が最も気に入った。ナビゲーターの大野由加さんは金沢市出身のピアニストで、プログラムの最後には、彼女自身が短い曲を3曲演奏した。演奏に使われたピアノは、ロール紙に穴を開けて記録された演奏を自動演奏出来るタイプのもので、催しのあと、そのピアノでラフマニノフの演奏も聞いた。一時間半ほどの手頃な催しで、楽しいひとときだった。（写真は、21世紀美術館近くの本多町バス停留所から、広坂方面をのぞんだ風景。）（完）

In the morning of May 16, my wife and I May 16 visited the Kanazawa 21st Century Museum. Then, we had seafood lunch at a shop on the second floor of Omicho-ichibakan. Before attending at an event from 14:30 at Kanazawa Phonograph Museum, we had plenty of time. So, we took "Kanazawa loop bus" for about one and a half trip. The event at Phonograph Museum was entitled "Tea Time Classics Presented by Yuka Ohno: Masters of the SP Era – Pianists (1)." SP records were played on a large American-made phonograph of the 1920s, which was said to have costed more than the price of a two-storied house at that time.

The first part of the program was "Comparison of pianists," and we listened to the records of Ludwig van Beethoven's "Für Elise" played by Akiko Teranishi (1927–), Walter Gieseking (1895–1956), Artur Schnabel (1882–1951). Both my wife and I liked Gieseking's playing most. The presenter Yuka Ohno is a pianist born in Kanazawa, and in the last part of the program, she played three short pieces of music. The piano used for her playing was of the type that was able to perform automatic playing of music recorded on punched paper roll. After the program, we listened to the performance of Rachmaninoff on that piano. It was a fairly short event of 1.5 hours, and we had thoroughly enjoyed it.
