写真は、昨年の大晦日、午後1時半近くに、雲間から射し出る太陽光線を、書斎の窓から撮ったもの。この光線は、「薄明光線」、「天使のはしご」、「レンブラント光」などと呼ばれる。当地では、12 月から 1 月にかけて、厚い雲が多くなるせいか、よく見られる。先年、ウォーキング途中で撮った写真（こちら、こちら、そしてこちら）の方が美しく撮れていたようだ。何かと暗い今の世の中にも、明るい光線が射し込んで欲しい。
Photos above, taken from the window of my study around 1:30 pm on December 31, 2012, show sun's rays shining out from behind the clouds. These rays are called "crepuscular rays," "angel's stairs" or "Rembrandt ray." In the area where I live, these rays are often seen from December to January, possibly because there are many thick clouds in the sky of this season. The photos of crepuscular rays I took on my way of walking exercise past years seem to be more beautiful (see here, here, and here). Nowadays we hear a lot of gloomy news stories. Therefore, I want to see such rays that brighten the society.
