山陰の旅６ (Trip to Sanin Region 6)

　旅の2日目の夜は、松江宍道湖温泉のホテルに泊まった。上のイメージは、ホテルの窓からのスケッチで、宍道湖、対岸にある松江の街の一部、そして小さな島「嫁ヶ島」が見える。この島は、湖で死んだ美しく若い花嫁を記念して神々がつくったという伝説がある [1]。

At the night of the second day of our trip, we stayed at a hotel in Matsue Shinjiko Onsen (Lake-Shinji Hotspring, Matsue), Shimane. The above image is of the sketch of the view from the hotel room. Lake Shinji, the town of part of Matsue on the other side of the lake and the small island of "Yomegashima (Bride's Island)" are seen. A local myth says that the island was created by the Gods in memory of a radiant young bride who drowned in the waters of the lake [1].

　翌3日目の午前、小型遊覧船による「ぐるっと松江 堀川めぐり」を楽しんだ。乗船場所は3カ所あり、私たちは黒田町の松江堀川ふれ合い広場で乗った。遊覧船はいわゆる「屋形船」である。合計16の橋の下をくぐって運行するが、四つの橋では橋桁が低いため、屋根が少し下げられ、乗客は頭を低くしなければならない。下の写真1枚目は、私たちが乗ったのと同じ遊覧船、カラコロ広場発着場で。 2枚目は、橋桁の低い橋の一つ、新米子橋。

In the morning of the third day of our trip, we enjoyed "Horikawa Moat Tour" on a small boat with a roof. The roof is lowered when the boat passes under the four low bridges among the total of 16 bridges. Then, passengers have to lower their head. The first photo below shows the boat of the same type as we rode, seen at Karakoro-Square Port; the second, one of the low bridges, Shin'yonago-bashi.
