春の花々２０ (Flowers of Spring 20)

　デンドロビウム（ラン科セッコク属）。写真は2010年4月7日、わが家で。10年ほど前に、家の建て替え祝いとして K 氏から貰った鉢を株分けした。貰った翌々年あたりからしばらく花を見なかったが、昨年ぐらいからまた咲き始めた。

　訂正：写真の花は、家の建て替え祝いとして貰い、しばらく（長らくか）花を見なかったものには違いないが、K' 氏から貰った白花のシンビジウムだった。

Dendrobium: this is a huge genus of orchids. It was established by Olof Swartz in 1799 and today contains about 1,200 species. The name is from the Greek dendron ("tree") and bios ("life"); it means "one who lives on trees", or, essentially, "epiphyte (着生植物)" [1]. The photo was taken in our yard on April 7, 2010.

Correction: The above photo is not of dendrobium but of cymbidium. This year the dendrobiums in our home do not bloom.
