きょうは春一番が吹くという予報が出ていたので、朝のうちに庭の花々の写真を撮った。上から、ヘレボルス（キンポウゲ科のクリスマスローズ属）、ウメ、八重咲き水仙。
先日来、NHK BS プレミアムでジェームズ・ステュアート主演の映画を三本見た。『ハーヴェイ』(1950)、『グレン・ミラー物語』(1953)、『スミス都へ行く』(1939) である。『スミス都へ行く』の、ボーイスカウトのリーダーだったスミスが、上院で政治の腐敗と単身対決する場面は痛快だった。いま、日本にも、歪んだ政治を正すスミスが必要である。
『グレン・ミラー物語』は大学 1 年のときに見て、自分もジューン・アリスン演じるヘレンのような女性と結婚したいと思ったものだ。その望みがかなったかどうかは、ご想像に任せる。きょうは妻の 77 回目の誕生日である。
後日の追記：実際には、この日に近畿地方では春一番が吹かないで、3 月 18 日になって吹いた。
The weather forecast told that the first spring storm would blow today. So, I took the above photos of a flower of hellebores, plum blossoms and flowers of double daffodil in my yard in the morning.
This week I watched on TV three films starring James Stewart: Harvey (1950), The Glenn Miller Story (1953) and Mr. Smith Went to the Capital (1939). The scene of the last film in which Smith, who was the leader of the Boy Scouts, alone confronts the corruption of politics in the Senate was fantastic. In Japan now, a Smith is needed to rectify the crooked politics.
When I saw The Glenn Miller Story for the first time, I was a freshman at university and wanted to marry a woman like Helen, played by June Allison. Whether my dream came true or not is left to your imagination. Today is my wife's 77th birthday.

ハーヴェイもグレン・ミラーもスミスも、彼でなければあんなに素敵な映画にはならなかったのでは・・・といつも思っています。「アメリカの良心」に相応しい俳優さんです。
Machiko さん、妻の誕生日へのお言葉、ありがとうございます。妻からもよろしくと申しています。信州の温泉へ3泊4日の旅をしていましたので、返事が遅れました。旅の様子は、またブログ記事にする予定です。
