上京 １ (Going to Tokyo -1-)

　さる 10 月 1０ 日、翌日東京で開催される大連嶺前小学校同窓会総会に参加するために上京した。途中、昨年死去した幼友だち Y・A さんの長姉 K・T さん宅を横浜に訪ねた。「Y・A さんとの交流記：文通編」（B5 サイズ 28 ページにプリントしたもの）を差し上げ、思い出話にふけるうちに、2 時間半ほどがたちまち過ぎた。

　同窓会当日は、受付開始時間よりもかなり早く会場のホテルニューオータニ（千代田区紀尾井町）付近へ行き、清水谷公園を散策した。園内には、都心にいることを忘れさせるような木々の間の坂道、この辺りで暗殺された武士・政治家、大久保利通（1830〜1878 年）の哀悼碑、江戸時代に使われていた玉川上水の石枡（水道の幹線から分水する目的で設けられた設備）、茶会に使われる小さな建物「偕香苑」（それぞれ上掲の写真参照）などがある。これらの間をめぐりながら、くつろいだ朝のひとときを過ごした。

On October 10, I went to Tokyo to attend the reunion of Dalian Reizen Elementary School to be held the next day. On my way there, I dropped at K.T's house in Yokohama (K.T is the oldest sister of a childhood friend of mine, Y.A). I gave her "Letters from Y.A" (28 printed pages of B5-size sheets), and talked with her about reminiscences for two hours and a half, which went by pretty quickly.

On October 11, I went quite early near the venue of the reunion, Hotel New Ōtani (Kioi-cho, Chiyoda) and took a walk in Shimizudani Park. The photos above were taken there. Top, a slope between lines of trees such that makes us forget to be in the downtown; second, the monument for the samurai and statesman Toshimichi Okubo (1830-1878), who had been assassinated around here; third, stone boxes, for the purposes of distributing water, of Tamagawa Aqueduct used in Edo Period; and bottom, the hut Kaikōen for tea ceremony. Walking around these, I spent a relaxing moment of the morning.
