上京 ３ (Going to Tokyo -3-)

創建当時へ復元された東京駅丸の内駅舎。

　東京駅丸の内駅舎は、5 年 4 カ月にわたる復元工事が完了して、さる 10 月 1 日、1914 年の創建当時の姿がよみがえった。東京を去る日、その駅舎の姿を、全体がよく見える丸の内ビルディング 2 階から撮影したいと思った。しかし、時間が早過ぎて、上階はまだ開店していなかった。やむなく、地上で撮影したのが 1枚目の写真である。新旧駅舎のイラストレーションは、もう一つ古い姿のセピア色の映像も加えて、同じ場所に代わる代わる映されているのだが、セピア色のものは撮り忘れた。今回の改修以前のイメージの方が、後方に邪魔な高層ビルがなくて、すっきりと美しく見えるのは皮肉なことである。（完）

After the work of five years and four months, the Marunouchi frontage of Tokyo Stationon was restored, on October 1, to the original appearance in 1914. On the day of leaving Tokyo, I wanted to take a photo of the entire view of the frontage from the second floor of Marunouchi Building. However, I went there so early that the floor was being closed yet, and I took a photo on the ground just in front of the station, as sown in the first picture. As for illustrations of the old and new station buildings, there was one more in sepia, and those were projected one after the other. I forgot to take a picture of the sepia one. It is ironic that the image of the station building before renovation looks more attractive because of the fact that there were no high buildings behind it. (End)
