3 (Ume Blossoms in Kozen Park 3)

The first photo shows the cultivar of ume called "wa-chigai," meaning "to have blossoms of different colors." The second shows "shin-Heike," named after the red flag of Heike or Taira family that had political power over Japan in the 12th century. The third shows "shiro-Kaga," meaning "white Kaga," where Kaga is the old name of the part of Ishikawa Prefecture that was ruled by Maeda clan from 1583 to 1868 (the emblem of Maeda clan, "kaga-umebachi," was a white ume blossom in the black background). The photos were taken in Kozen Park on March 5, 2011.
