2 (Cruise on the Danube -2-)

We flue to Frankfurt by the Lufthansa plane that departed from Kansai International Airport at 10:00, October 18. After receiving a pretty tough immigration at Frankfurt Airport, we arrived at Budapest Airport by another Lufthansa plane a little after 16:00 local time of the same day. Then, we were transported from the airport to the Intercontinental Hotel by bus. On entering the room of the hotel, we saw from the window a beautifully lit up scene of Buda Castle (called Royal Palace in the past; Budapest including the Banks of the Danube, the Buda Castle Quarter and Andrássy Avenue is designated as the world cultural heritage) across the Danube. I was unable to take a good shot of the scene but made a sketch (the image above) before we went for sightseeing next morning. The boat seen at the near side of the picture is fixed close to the riverbank and is used as a restaurant. Currently, the Budapest History Museum, the Hungarian National Museum, etc. are located in the Buda Castle. When we come here, we can well understand that Budapest city is a combination of west-bank Buda and Óbuda with east-bank Pest, occupying both banks of the river Danube, which flows from north to south in this district.
